Dr. Mayur Patel is a highly trained psychiatrist known for delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. His approach includes structured medication management as well as advanced options such as TMS therapy and Spravato® (esketamine) for treatment-resistant cases. Dr. Patel is a Texas native who obtained his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Science and Arts with Highest Honors in Biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/McGovern Medical School.
He is currently finalizing his psychiatry residency at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York. During his training, he has helped develop and expand the Spravato® (esketamine) treatment program to improve access for patients with treatment-resistant depression. He is also pursuing certification in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) through the Academy of Brain Stimulation, further strengthening his focus on evidence-based interventional psychiatry.
Leadership & Academic Roles
Dr. Patel has held multiple leadership and academic distinctions throughout his training. During his residency training, he served as an Academic and Administrative Chief Resident, reflecting his commitment to both leadership and education. His scholarly work has been presented at American Psychiatric Association (APA) conferences on several occasions, demonstrating active engagement in advancing the field. During medical school, he was also awarded the Denton A. Cooley Scholarship in recognition of academic excellence and leadership and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
